The rules are fairly simple: You pay x amount of dollars for a player, you keep him x amount of years. Each player you draft is on your team till his contract runs out or you cut him (freeing up salary cap money). You can pick up free agents throughout the year (if you have money left after the draft). Then next year you can draft as many players as you have open roster spots, (from cutting players and contracts running out) just figure how much salary cap you have,(how much money you can spend), and when contracts run out (how many players can you afford to re-sign).
